Shower Cabin
Prestige

In close collaboration with the Austrian company Artweger, Studio F. A. Porsche developed the PRESTIGE shower enclosure series – a project that shows how technical innovation, formal clarity and a high level of user orientation can be combined in one product. At the heart of the design was a newly developed hinge that not only delivers top functional performance, but also blends harmoniously into the overall appearance of the shower series thanks to its minimalist and almost flush integration. The impetus for this arose from the desire to transform a technical element into a design highlight – functional, durable and visually restrained.

The PRESTIGE series focuses on the perfect symbiosis of form and function. This can only be achieved once the functionality of a product has been fully understood. The aim was to focus the shower series on the essentials and integrate functionality into the design. In the PRESTIGE, for example, the pivot hinge has been fully integrated into the bar profile. The hinge is therefore no longer directly visible and is perceived at first glance as a narrow, continuous profile with no visible plastic parts. In contrast to conventional systems, it does not protrude in any direction, appears less contrived and impresses with its geometric calmness. The design of the range is therefore unobtrusive, discreet and light, without appearing fragile. The timeless character and robust construction underline the high standards.

The function of the hinge has also been improved. This allows the door to be opened not only by the previous 180 degrees, but up to a full 360 degrees. The Prestige series is therefore characterized by a hinge that not only looks half as wide as conventional pivot showers, but can also be rotated twice as far.

In the same style, a further swivel tube hinge completes the range, which offers a comparable function but is mounted directly on the wall. In addition, a complementary mounting profile, which compensates for inaccuracies in the wall plaster, ensures a seamless appearance. A hand piece with a knurled handle and rubberized front surface is easy to grip even with wet hands and at the same time provides a material-friendly stop when the door is opened to the maximum. Hinges and accessories have been carefully matched to the current range of fittings in all their surface finishes to offer the customer a seamless design solution.

With these elements, the design can be described as an evolutionary development of the shower. The design of the series is unobtrusive, discreet and light, without appearing fragile. The timeless character and robust construction underline the high standards of sustainability.
